Day 7: Chenoa, IL to McLean, IL

The sun came out today! It was still windy, but it was mostly a crosswind again, and the blue sky and sun felt wonderful!

Much of today’s route was on sections of Route 66 that have been turned into multi-use trails, and there was NOBODY else on them. It was delightfully serene!

I stopped at Ryburn Place in Normal, Illinois, and chatted with Terri Ryburn, who created it as sort of an homage to her family’s history on Route 66. She knew Betty Estes (now deceased, sadly) and knows John Weiss (whom I mentioned yesterday), and has written her own book on her family’s history (https://amazon.com/dp/1093973684).

I also stopped at Funk’s Grove, the home of the famous Funk Maple Sirup and chatted with Debby Funk.

We know why there are wind turbines in Illinois, don't we!
