Day 1, to the Seattle Train station!

After saying goodbye to my wife and dogs, I headed out on the familiar route from Woodinville to Seattle.

It was drier than expected, but still a little chilly and windy. Typical Seattle early spring weather.

I ran into my friend Amy and rode with her for a few miles. She was trying to go slow, for me, but I was struggling to keep up. It was fun having company for a few miles on the Burke Gilman trail.

It is a shock getting on a heavy loaded touring bike after a long time off it. I know that, in a couple weeks, it will feel normal, but not yet. Not today.

Sammy has hemangiosarcoma, but he has been hanging on for a long time, so I hope he makes it until I return. He knows I love him. And he loves Cheeseburgers! ๐Ÿ”

Amy! Thanks for keeping me company and slowing down for me!
